How Would You Like to Capture Some Time?
Women's health issues often are focused on goals to reach: getting thin, moving up in the corporate world, having a child, taking a vacation, meeting Mr. Right, fitting in exercise or making sure you are eating your vegetables!
Well, I hope to help you start at the beginning to capture moments of time that will help you build a foundation to support that very busy, goal directed life. How can you focus on the process of living, be able to stay in and gain those moments of time as you are trying to reach your extraordinary goals?
What is a moment in time for you? How do you capture that moment? Are you even able to find a moment in time for you? The Buddhists talk about staying in the moment, Kodak would like to sell you that moment and Hollywood movies reflect that moment.... How might you capture that moment when you are struggling with doing laundry, taking the kids to a soccer game, planning dinner, trying to finish the task you started at work and you have been wanting to try that new thigh exercise you saw in the magazine yesterday. Multi tasking certainly is the norm for most women today and not the exception.
Your optimum health is dependent on seeking moments in time on a daily basis. Moments in time will lead to freedom, increase your ability to enjoy the process of life, lower your stress level and they will help you grow. Living today, for the vast majority of women, is complex and fast paced. Capturing a moment in time will help you to slow that pace so that you can enjoy all of your life not just the spare moment at 11:00PM that you have waited for all day!
As an example we often are so busy that we are not able to take the time or moment to truly connect with others. What is that about? When we are in a hurry we do the standard -"Hi, how are you?" Then move on to the next event or task often without really hearing or connecting with the other person's answer. What might happen if you stopped for a moment and asked that question of someone with the intent of standing there and really listening to the answer? Would it detract from your day? It might add value and a connection with someone that would benefit both of you.
So to take that moment in time - here are a couple of ideas:
All of us are over-stimulated on a daily basis. Think advertising, TV, Nintendo, traffic, ambient noise.... All of these create a need to shut down some of our senses and withdraw. We simply cannot attend to everything around us. But how sad to miss the sounds of a bird or the ocean because you need to screen out daily sounds that are annoying. Where is our ability to stay in the moment and grow under those circumstances? Here are a few more ideas to help you find a quiet, no matter how small, moment in time:
A moment in time does not need to be large, extended or planned. Just let it happen even if for only those few seconds of breathing, breathing, breathing. It will give you back a sense of who you are and more energy to reach your goals.
Just take a deep breath!

Time Management: A Non-Renewable Resource
Benjamin Franklin wrote: "If you want to enjoy one of the greatest luxuries in life, the luxury of having enough time, time to rest, time to think things through, time to get things done and know you have done them to the best of your ability, remember, there is only one way. Take enough time to think and plan things in the order of their importance.
What Would Save You Time?
We all get overwhelmed from time to time, and sometimes it seems as if 24 hours a day is just not enough to get everything accomplished that we would like. Let's consider this a brainstorming session.
Work Smarter Not Harder
To work smarter all you need is the consciousness of the present. This is possible only when you cast off your emotional bindings, this helps you relieve your prejudice.
Scheduling Productive Days - Dont Interrupt, Im Pouring Concrete
Almost everyone in business knows the balancing act between the weekly work schedule and business development time is almost as challenging as walking on a tight rope. I suggest breaking your work week into focus days to work in your business and buffer days to work on your business.
When Is Time Management Not Enough?
A working manager needs more than time management. That old saying, "Dance with the one that brought you to the ball," came to mind as I received a reality jolt recently.
The Rule of Three
It's amazing how many sayings there are in our culture about the number three. Think about it: "Good things (or bad) come in threes;" "Third time's the charm.
It's Not The Same Old Routine
We are constantly inundated with routine (often boring!) tasks around the house. This can cause major frustration because many of us don't do them efficiently, and most of us fail to complete our entire list of chores! You may take comfort in comment from a commiserating colleague: "A creative mind always has more ideas than the physical body is able to carry out.
Fitting An Education Into A Busy Lifestyle
Fitting an education into a busy lifestyleMany people have aspirations to get an education for many reasons. Better jobs, more money and social recognition are some of the more predominant explanations.
Put a Couple of Elephants on Your Plate
How do you eat two elephants? The same way you would eat one; one bite at a time. Monstrous tasks often appear to be complex and overwhelming.
Isn't it amazing that some people can produce huge results in the same 24 hours that we all have? Whether or not we realize it, we victimize ourselves by not appropriately deciding what to do with our time. Instead, we let our time decide what to do with us!Time is a commodity, and no matter who we are, we experience many demands on this precious commodity.
Effective Use of Your Online Time
The Internet is increasingly becoming a major time killer for many of us. Involuntarily, we started to spend more time online than we really can afford.
Do You Have The Time?
Show me, O Lord, my life's end and the number of my days; let me know how fleeting is my life. Psalms 39:4.
TIME, The Undervalued Resource
We are all born equal! We all have the same 24 hours in a day as Oprah Winfrey has the difference is how we choose to spend our time. No matter how you dissect this concept, there could only be 1440 minutes or 86,400 seconds at any given 24.
Four Steps To Make Your Day Dynamic!
There are two ways to start your day. The first is to dive in; tackling whatever is in front of you.
How to Conquer the Five Major Time Wasters?
* spreading yourself too thinTaking on too many things at once can hinder organization. Set specific priorities.
Time Management - Keeping a Clean Desk
I have worked with so many people over the years that have made me wonder how on earth they can work at their desk when everything that was in their drawers and in their filing cabinets have ended up in piles on top of their keyboard. One co-worker of mine couldn't remember what colour the top of his desk was! I had to say something, but when I did, he told me that he knew where everything was and needed all that paperwork for different projects he was working on.
The Keepers of Time
I give presentations on organizational skill building as it relates to paper, time, and computer file management. It seems that we all have too much paper, not enough time, and more than enough information stored in our computers if we could just find it!Part of my job is to help identify the challenges an employee or organization is facing and suggest solutions.
Everythings Blurry Except For You
Riding the subway home yesterday, my typically silent car was enlivened by two young girls and their mothers who hopped on. The girls, 7 years old or so, immediately danced over to the upright pole in the middle of the aisle and started twirling around it.
Ending Procrastination: A New Look at the Old Demon
Do you believe that the best way to deal with procrastination is to "get tough" with yourself and "just do it?" Many people take this approach. What's behind it is the sense that procrastination is essentially a character flaw, a weakness, and that the only way to deal with it is to muscle past it through sheer will.
The Laundry Has Never Been More Fun Or The Pitfalls To Working At Home
As a home-based, self-employed woman, mundane tasks can be as compelling to me as chocolate. Laundry.
